NECPGV brings together organizations and individuals from all six New England states to collaborate on education, policy and other regional projects to help raise awareness about this urgent issue and to reduce gun injury and death.
Our past work includes:
- Educational meetings with each of the 2004 Democratic presidential primary candidates in New Hampshire
- Educating news reporters about the importance of gathering information about where crime guns are coming from
- Public awareness campaigns to promote public safety initiatives such as the Federal assault weapons ban
We are currently working to raise public awareness about the illegal gun crisis in New England and urging regional solutions like criminal background checks for all gun sales and transfers through our
Red Flag Campaign.
In addition, NECPGV:
- Serves as an information clearing-house for the public, the press, elected officials, and community organizations.
- Participates in state, regional and national efforts to reduce gun violence.
- Works with communities to help coordinate gun violence prevention efforts and activities.
- Encourages local and federal policymakers to support community and legislative efforts to reduce gun violence.
- Supports stronger gun laws including a universal background check on all gun purchases.
